We’re delighted to announce the acquisition of SAINT FRANCES, to be released across digital platforms on 10th July 2020 in the UK and Ireland. Winner of both the Audience Award and a Special Jury Award at SXSW (2019), SAINT FRANCES is the refreshingly honest feature debut from writer and lead Kelly O’Sullivan, which explores the “everyday joys and agonies of being a woman” [The New York Times].
The film follows the events of a summer when somewhat down-on-her-luck Bridget (O’Sullivan) is hired to babysit six year old Frances, played by Ramona Edith Williams. SAINT FRANCES is also director Alex Thompson’s feature debut, and stars Lily Mojekwu (I Love Dick, Widows), Charin Alvarez and Max Lipchitz. Thompson and O’Sullivan said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Vertigo and sharing Saint Frances with UK audiences. We hope it brings even a modicum of brightness to what is certainly an unprecedented time of strife and division.”
Rupert Preston, CEO of Vertigo Releasing, said of the company’s latest acquisition, “SAINT FRANCES is an absolute gem of an indie movie that once discovered will be loved by UK audiences”. The deal was negotiated between Vertigo’s Edward Caffrey and Ryan Kampe of Visit Films. Kampe said, “Following the amazing success in the US with Oscilloscope, we are really glad to see the film find audiences abroad with innovative partners such as Vertigo.”
Saint Frances will be released across digital platforms in the UK and Ireland on 10th July 2020.
