We’re pleased to announce the acquisition of CORPUS CHRISTI (BOZE CIALO), to be released in the UK and Ireland on 18th October, 2019 in collaboration with New Europe Film Sales, which handles world rights to the film.
CORPUS CHRISTI is the story of 20-year-old Daniel, who experiences a spiritual transformation whilst living in a youth detention centre. He wants to become a priest, but realises this is impossible due to his criminal record. When he is sent to work for a carpenter in a small town, he instead dresses up as a priest and ends up taking over the local parish. The arrival of the young, charismatic preacher is an opportunity for the local community to begin a process of healing after a dreadful tragedy that took place.
The film stars Bartosz Bielenia (The High Frontier), Aleksandra Konieczna (The Last Family), Eliza Rycembel (The Promise) and Tomasz Ziętek (Stones for the Rampart).
CORPUS CHRISTI is the third feature film by Polish director Jan Komasa. Its world premiere was in the Giornate degli Autori section at Venice, and the film was also part of the Official Selection for Toronto International Film Festival 2019. Komasa’s feature film debut, SUICIDE ROOM, premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and attracted over 800,000 viewers in Polish cinemas. His second film, a war epic called WARSAW 44 attracted 1.7 million viewers in cinemas in Poland.
CORPUS CHRISTI will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 18th October 2019.
